Statue of Saint Steven


3525 Miskolc, Szent István tér

The statue situated en the Saint Stephen Square en Miskolc. The full-lenght statue was designed by Zsolt Józsay and was inaugurated by the archbishop of Eger en 27 th December 2000.

The statue represent Saint Stephen the state founder, with the crown jewels in his hands stepping over the symbolic gate of christianity.

Hungarian symbols:
Both sides of the gate lions guard the king, which was inspired by the wall painting of the Royal Castle of Esztergom.

Above the head of the king there is the monogram of Saint Stephen.

At the back of the gate can be seen diferent motives of animals, flowers and sun rose.
